Erwin-Josef Speckmann
Erwin-Josef Speckmann (born April 25, 1939 in Münster, Germany)〔〔 is a German neuroscientist and artist.〔 Until his retirement in 2005, he was the head of the Institute of Physiology at the University of Münster, and a professor in the Art Academy Münster. He is also a former dean of the medical faculty at the University of Münster, two-time president of the German EEG Society, and past president of the German Physiological Society.〔(Curriculum vitae ), Univ. of Münster, retrieved 2011-06-07.〕

==Awards and honors==
Speckmann was one of two winners of the 1973 Michael Prize, awarded annually to a young epilepsy researcher. In 1984, Speckmann won the Albert Hauptmann Prize, offered jointly every two years by the German Society for Epileptology for the best German-language research in epilepsy in the preceding two years. In 2007, he won the Otfrid Foerster Medal, a lifetime achievement award given by the German Society for Epileptology.〔.〕
In 2011 he was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
